The dreamcast keyboard is an accessory with a surprising level of support. When it comes to games in my own collection, I've used it with Typing of the Dead (which is required for that game), Quake 3 Arena, and Phantasy Star Online. According to Segaretro, it can also be used in Sonic Adventure. I'll have to report back on what that's like, possibly in a future blog post.
Quake 3's controls on the dreamcast controller are pretty horrendous since it only has one analog stick to work with. Thankfully, it supports keyboard and mouse controls, which provides more of a PC-like experience. You can't control the player with the keyboard in PSO, but it is used for typing chat messages to other players.
It's also useful on the web-browser for typing URL's or searches. Not that you should be browsing the internet in the 2020s on your Sega Dreamcast, you sick and twisted fuck.
There's not much to discuss in terms of what the Dreamcast keyboard does, as it's pretty self explanatory. It's a typical IBM-layout keyboard with Dreamcast branding, featuring mushy membrane keys and a dreamcast controller cord/plug. Like pretty much every other keyboard on the planet, it has stands underneath the keyboard which can be folded out to adjust the angle at which your fingers rest on the keys.
I obtained my Dreamcast keyboard from a flea market when I was 16 years old for $5, as indicated by the price tag on the back of the box. God, I miss when people didn't give a shit about old video games.
