Nintendo Wii
Launch Years: NA: 2006, EU: 2006, JP: 2006
The Wii was the first Nintendo console I played on. While the motion controls are mostly a gimmick, some games use them well. My library is pretty slim, as I traded most of my good games into Gamestop back in the day for Xbox 360 games once I got my hands on that system. Slowly but surely I've been getting some of those Wii games back. Backwards compatablity with Gamecube games and the virtual console were insanely good features which introduced me to NES, Genesis, and N64 games.
A sorta funny and dated memory I have with the Wii was from when I was a kid. My family used to take turns playing Guitar Hero 3 when we first got our wii, on an old rear-projection box-style TV. I think around 2009 or 2010ish we upgraded to one of them new-fangled plasma TV's, and it made playing Guitar Hero impossible. We tried calibrating the guitar in-game, but it was no use as the input delay on that shitty old plasma was insane. Somehow I adapted to playing other games with delay factored in, but guitar hero was forever fucked up because you're also trying to play in rhythm with the music.
Guitar Hero 3 was one of the first games to go for that reason. I can't remember if we traded it in for other wii games or if we sold it during a yard sale.
