Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES)
Launch Years: NA: 1991, EU: 1992, JP: 1990(Super Famicom)
Now you're playing with power, super power! The SNES was a truly state-of-the-art 16-bit machine. It was capable of some very impressive sprite-scaling effects for the time, and had a very broad range of sound. While I prefer the console's overall design in other regions (see the super famicom), I do feel that the blocky purple-switch box that we got here in the states is likeable in its own way.
My SNES is slightly discolored, which is not uncommon for Super Nintendos and other electronics of the era made from similar plastics. It's caused by some kind of chemical process that occurs when the system is exposed to UV light. It is possible to reverse through retrobrighting, but I have yet to do that to my unit.
